believe it. it’s here. internets radio of electro blogs.
now i can listen, then like something, then go to the blogs site that is putting on the show and download it. or just resort to my normal patterns and read the blog while listening to their posted songs…
another use. having a dance party and forgot to bring a dj? just hook up the ol’laptop to your stereo and you don’t have to do any mixing or worry about your playlist being dated. Or get this thing… not quite a hype machine, but still awesome.
This is really good. Makes me want to stop using my guitar as a stand for my stereo and learn to play English Houses. Also kinda sorta makes me want to quit my job, buy a shack, and not emerge until I have grown a lot of hair and make really good music.
i rarely go to the record store (for shame!) but yesterday I did and noticed a bunch of copies of Radiohead’s Airbag / How am I driving? ep in stock. This EP was once the pinnacle piece of any serious Radiohead fan’s collection, because it was a limited edition US-only release. In my university days I would source copies of the EP and sell them on ebay for tidy profits – as you can see on Amazon.com, in 2003 there was a copy available for $77. While I never made that tidy a profit, now that it is 2008, and Radiohead’s stock is so high – Capitol has re-released the EP and I would definitely recommend the $7 purchase on Amazon or your local independent music retailer (mall goers in Canada: at HMV the CD is 2 for $20).
Heck, I have a copy i could let go for $5…I was saving it for my children, but I guess their university fund will have to start with actual cash rather than the once prized possession of my radiohead collection.
k, that isn’t me. i started playing bike polo last week. it’s great. everyone should play. you aren’t allowed to put you feet down. ever. so you fall lots. then you have to tap back in. i say find the bike polo circuit near you. always a friendly bunch.
when i am not feeling the computer love at work… i check out peoples bikes and mallet construction.
Here we go, some Animal Collective in honour of my sister’s very recent marriage…
Also, had the pleasure of watching these guys at the Rogers Picnic. Unfortunately it was raining and we left part way through their set. They did play fireworks though.
i have been a passionate Menomena listener for a wee bit. Sooo good! Finding them on ‘take away films” has mad me love them more. fliiip. “Take away films” aka “La Blogotheque” is pretty wonderful in and of itself. i once saw Architecture in Helsinki’s vid on there and thought it was a one time deal. HRO let me know today that i was wrong. there are many many good bands playing wonderful, live,
free, genuine songs. no cuts, one take. a true experience with the band. there were some i wasn’t so impressed with too… i won’t mention them.
#62.3 – Menomena – Wet and Rusting #12.3 The Kooks – Ooh la
i’m pretty sure this was before one of their own shows, seeing as the crowd knows the words to the lyrics. #25.2 – GUILLEMOTS – MadeUp love song 43
eff you guillemots! for making the way you make me feel. they make me miss/appreciate/covet the feeling that is love. i do prefer the recorded version of this song. i was sightly disappointed he didn’t rock out the high notes during the one section near the end, but it was still exceptional. #76.2 – CARIBOU – Sundialling
Caribou have a sound that resonates with my soul. layer upon layer, crash upon crash, resolving into a clearing, only to build once again. this acoustic version is very different. I love how they are half a block away from their drummer to have the sound levels right. #41 – Arcade Fire – Neon Bible & Wake Up
arcade fire. every time i see them preform “live”, aka on tv preforming in real time, i am taken away. their energy and brightness… yet a dark contrast and applicable tension is seen and is unsurpassed.
Here’s a track from Boy Crisis. A band from BROOklynnnn! I really just like the line in the song that goes “you’re the sh*t grrl”. If i had a gf i would play it to her and mouth the words to that line and she would be all over me.
Part of the song reminds me of a riff from fashion television, but i could be wrong.
Alternative fences. going green and creating privacy at the same time.
are we a green blog? should we care more about the enviro? are we an anything blog? annie “hillfall’er” bush wants to blog. i told her to blog in her own home. maybe she can join our gated with hedges community? Doomed Now – Does it offend you, yeah?
i <3 this tune. a sweet interlude. if they ever go to a city near you check them out. def good bands with them. it will be a gurn’teed good time.
hedge door with door. cool.
I don’t know how to zip and make it work in here (here being the internet, 4life) and i don’t want to read about it to figure it out. This is the whitest boy alive. they are German, this came out in 2006, re-released 2007 or something like that.
i always hear talk about how relevant things are. relevant to what? that’s a bogus term in my books. Resonance does more justice to a persons perception of what they like and what they want to share. i saw these perps last week. it was an excellent show.
